Sing and Swing: A Jazz at Lincoln Center Production featuring Bria Skonberg and Benny Benack III

March 26 at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Catamount Arts and KCP Presents announce jazz prodigies Bria Skonberg and Benny Benack III, performing “Sing & Swing,” at St. Johnsbury Academy’s Fuller Hall, on March 26th, at 7pm. Part of the Jazz at Lincoln Center’s touring initiative, “Sing & Swing” will present unforgettable selections from the Great American Songbook, showcasing prodigious trumpet talent and crisp sophisticated vocals.

For more than three decades, Jazz at Lincoln Center, under the direction of legendary leader and trumpet virtuoso Wynton Marsalis, has been a leading advocate for global jazz, culture and arts education. This Jazz at Lincoln Center tour celebrates the Great American Songbook in all of its playful yet sophisticated glory, brought to life by two of this generation’s brightest stars.

With extraordinary trumpet talent and vocal charm, Bria Skonberg and Benny Benack III will relive and re-imagine classic partnerships in jazz and popular song, including Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland and Bing Crosby, and Dean Martin and Peggy Lee. Featuring songs by George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and many more, and joined by a who’s who of New York all-stars, this is an “unforgettable” evening of singin’ and swingin’ with Bria and Benny.

“Ms. Skonberg has become the shining hope of hot jazz,” raves the New York Times, “on the strength of a clarion trumpet style indebted to Louis Armstrong [and] a smooth purr of a singing voice inspired by Anita O’Day.”

All About Jazz says about Benny Benack III, “a trumpeter par excellence, dashing vocalist, and sophisticated writer and arranger, [Benack III] is truly the genuine article.”
