Beginning Woodworking for Women+: Make an End Table

March 12 at 11:00 am - 6:00 pm

$606.25 – $700

No woodworking experience required
This 8-session introductory class is for anyone who has not had much (or any at all) experience working with wood or tools, or wants a refresher. Designed to empower and build community among diverse beginner woodworkers, this class is open to women, transgender, and non-binary people.

Learn. Through demonstrations and hands-on learning, students will be guided through the proper use and safety of all major woodworking machines. Topics covered include milling lumber four square, woodworking materials, common joinery, properties of wood, building from a set of drawings, cutting joinery, glue ups, sanding & basic finishing techniques.

Make. You’ll make a small end table with 4 tapered legs, half-lapped aprons and mortise & tenon joinery with a round top.

Get Certified. This class will cover the safe operation of some of our major woodworking machines (table saw, miter saw, jointer, planer, bandsaw, routers and the domino jointer) and will help prepare you for our certification tests. To use these machines independently, you must be a member and pass one or more certification tests. For more information and to schedule a testing session, please contact [email protected].
