Residency & Programs Manager | Marble House Project (Dorset, VT)
Marble House Project seeks a full-time Residency & Programs Manager to join our team. This position is primarily tasked with executing the administrative and maintenance duties of all incoming and outgoing residents, providing artistic support to residents, and producing our community events. This position works directly with the Founding Director and Director of Operations in tandem with the Farm staff to organize and implement activities surrounding our Artist Residency Program. The Residency & Programs Manager position also stays on top of areas of improvement, staying up to date with best practices in the fields of artist support and community engagement.
Marble House Project is a five-year old multidisciplinary artist residency located on a 50-acre campus in Southern Vermont. Our mission is to foster collaboration and the exchange of ideas across varied creative disciplines, by providing a communal place for artists to live and work together as they develop new work. We integrate environmental sustainability, alongside artistic sustainability, through the small-scale organic farm on our grounds. TITLE: Residency & Programs Manager
REPORTS TO: Founding Directors & Director of Operations
WORKS WITH: Marble House Project Team
SCHEDULE: 40hrs/week with a variable schedule; some evening and weekend hours required.
-The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, dynamic individual who excels in a fast-paced creative environment, thinks logistically, and is impeccably organized.
-Experience working with artists, public events, and/or organizing professional gatherings. Experience in an arts or non-profit management role preferred.
-Highly refined writing, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
-Proficient with administrative software such as Microsoft Office, Google Suites required; familiarity with website maintenance and software design a plus.
-Comfortable living in a rural environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
-Work with the Founding Directors to produce guidelines for applications and to maintain an active outreach and recruitment program.
-Works with Founding Director reviewing applications, and selection processes. Manage communications with applying artists.
-Manage regular communication with accepted artists, provides artist contracts/studio and bedroom assignments.
-Oversee resident arrival and check out and Assist with cooking and clean up for welcome and goodbye dinners.
-Prepare artists studios including cleaning, painting, and light maintenance of artist buildings.
-Create schedules for each residency including nightly communal meals, field trips, etc.
-Provide food and house supplies for each session of artists, manage inventory of supplies and restock throughout each residency.
-Work with cleaning staff to prepare residency housing for incoming residents.
-Manage budget for each residency
-Solicit and prepare information/feedback for ongoing program evaluation.
Community Events Management and Support
-Project manage Art Seed Open Studios weekends, including studio visits with artists in advance, tech needs, run of show, introducing events, etc.
-Provide support and work in tandem with the Director of Operations for our Culinary Events.
-Manage and create communications materials relating to events. Such as: listing event in local papers.Designing, printing and posting an event poster for each session at local businesses. Designing and printing a program for Artseed.
-Work with Marble House team on coordinating and managing alumni volunteers during events.
General Departmental Support
-Co-Manage social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook etc.
-Work with Founding Directors to create content and disseminate newsletter.
-Assist with website updating.
-Catalog donations made by residents.
-Assist in the writing and development of grant applications, donor cultivation, and fundraising events.
-Assist with non-residency events when necessary .
-Employee must be able to manage events which includes occasional lifting and moving of AV equipment, furniture; and prepare studios for artists which includes painting/light maintenance of buildings.
-Must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving artists for field trips, etc.
-Due to the rural location of our campus, it is strongly recommended that employee has a vehicle.
Salary is based on the individuals abilities and qualifications. Our compensation package includes housing and 4 weeks paid vacation.
