Financial Considerations
Some grant programs have requirements for matching funds. Specific match fund requirements are noted in the guidelines for each grant program.

What We Do Not Fund
- academic tuition
- outside of the Council’s Cultural Facilities and Animating Infrastructure programs, construction of new facilities, renovation of existing facilities, or other capital improvements
- fundraising events
- activities in which artists are not appropriately compensated
- food and beverages
- international travel
- lobbying expenses
- purchase of permanent equipment
- home or office workspace
- goods for resale
Tax Information for Individuals
Please note that grants and honoraria to individuals are considered earnings by the IRS. Individual grantees and panelists are required to submit a W-9 form so that we can complete our IRS reporting. If you received more than $600 in a particular year from the Vermont Arts Council you will receive a Form 1099 by January 31 of the following year.
