As we start the new year in self-reflection, get in touch with what you are thankful for by writing an art-inspired gratitude poem with poet, JC Wayne. Sparked by the painting "Avalon" by Gallery 46 artist Georgeanne Gaffney as our muse, we will explore examples of gratitude poems, do quick warm-up writing prompts/tuning in exercises to listen with different parts of ourselves to create with gratitude as well as receive it, discover the special relationship between gratitude and forgiveness, and write a poem that expresses your uniquely thankful voice through the inspiration of art. And a special bonus: Our muse artist, Georgeanne, will be at the workshop to share her inspiration and process in creating "Avalon" and to answer your questions!

What is MANHUNT?
You are a detective in training. You receive a box of evidence in the mail for an active murder case. Suddenly, you are thrust from training into the real world -- and time is running out! You will need to put all your sleuthing skills to the test to solve the puzzles and decipher the clues. Hints will be provided along the way -- everyone will be busy and entertained! As the plot unfolds into a night of twists and turns - along with virtual live performances that plunge you deeper into a world of noir and intrigue - you realize this is about much more than the items in the box. You begin to wonder: in this virtual game of cat and mouse... who's chasing who? And why is one of your objects a clock that's slowly counting down? And... perhaps most importantly of all... what happens when it hits zero?
Please note that this is designed for everyone to succeed! This is a fun and engaging virtual experience that can be enjoyed by one person or the whole family (though younger children may find it challenging). The evidence boxes are extremely detailed and require an incredible amount of manpower to put together. For this reason, we have to put a total limit on the number of boxes available.
This is also a fun and unique holiday gift! Boxes can be purchased not only for your own household but also for friends and family. Boxes will be shipped immediately after Christmas!
Enjoy In the Box Entertainment! MANHUNT: Mystery in a Box

Cooper Hewitt offers free, dynamic educational programs for K–12 school groups. Our immersive learning experience is designed to align with city, state, and national learning standards. Drawing upon the museum’s exhibitions, design educators facilitate thoughtful discussions and activities focused on the process of design thinking. We empower students to view the world optimistically through the lens of design and to improve it by honing their design thinking abilities.
The virtual Design Field Trip experience is a 60-minute program in which K-12 students explore the design process, build connections to Cooper Hewitt’s collection, and foster a deeper understanding of brainstorming techniques and inclusive design. Our interactive field trip inspires the next generation of designers to take action in their community, build self-confidence and self-esteem, and learn how to harness their superpowers to create change for the better.
