Arts Calendar: Photography in Central Vermont
The photographs in this exhibition were taken over the course of two days spent in Sunset Park in August 2016. Sunset Park is a jewel of a public space located in a section of Brooklyn of the same name. All day and into the night, residents of the predominantly Latino and Asian neighborhoods that edge the Park stroll, compete, converse, read, picnic, flirt, and engage in a hundred other forms of human interaction. Sunset Park is the site of countless vignettes—moments of athleticism, joy, family love, friendship, and meditation. At a time when divisiveness dominates our national consciousness, the images in this show affirm that what we have in common is far greater than our differences. An opening reception will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017, 5 – 7 p.m. In addition, at noon on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, the five photographers will participate in a panel discussion led Pieter Broucke, Middlebury College Professor of Art and Architecture.
