Circa "Humans"

Circa "Humans"
Description:

Body, space, force and balance. In this heart-stopping nouveau cirque adventure that earned rave reviews on several continents, Australian circus artist/athletes test the limits of the human body. Forms fly through the air. Towers emerge and tumble. This virtuosic meditation on the body plays with the laws of physics, ratcheting up the tension between us and the space we move through.

Part of SHIFT: Across the globe, humans struggle to find balance in our relationship with nature. How can a quest for dominance transform into a sustainable collaboration? In SHIFT 2019, artists take on the Anthropocene with 10 days of events that explore the push and pull of that Human/Nature bond.

Time: 6/28/19 8:00pm - 6/30/19 11:59pm
Location: Hopkins Center for the Arts, 4 East Wheelock Street, Hanover, NH, Outside Vermont

Peking Acrobats

Peking Acrobats
Description:

For the last thirty two years, THE PEKING ACROBATS® have redefined audience perceptions of Chinese acrobatics. They perform daring maneuvers atop a precarious pagoda of chairs and display their technical prowess at such arts as trick-cycling, precision tumbling, juggling, somersaulting, and gymnastics. They push the limits of human ability, defying gravity with amazing displays of contortion, flexibility, and control. THE PEKING ACROBATS are often accompanied by live musicians who skillfully play traditional Chinese instruments; the time-honored Chinese music coalesces with high-tech special effects and awe-inspiring acrobatic feats, creating an exuberant entertainment event with the festive pageantry of a Chinese Carnival.

“Amazing! Zounds! The vocabulary of exclamation seeks expression as the medium of awed and surprised reaction to the wondrous feats of THE PEKING ACROBATS! In their graceful efforts…these brightly costumed tumblers, acrobats, cyclists, jugglers and clever clowns provide 90 minutes of family fun that infuses springtime in New York with an extra measure of joy.” ~ The New York Times

Time: 7/5/19 7:00pm - 9:00pm
