Mix, Mingle & Make: Making Masks Night!

Mix, Mingle & Make: Making Masks Night!

Tired of the typical options for getting out of the house and meeting people on a weeknight? Or just want a break from your Monday through Friday evening routine at home? Mix, Mingle & Make is a facilitated open studio for adults who wish to meet and spend time with other adults while they explore the creative process of their choice.

Chris will provide and demonstrate a few different fun, easy, and engaging art-making techniques each class for participants to explore independently or with guidance to whatever degree they feel satisfied. Participants are also free to come with their own ideas for creative projects, and either use our available supplies or bring their own. All skill levels welcome! Participants are invited to join Open Mic Night following this class to extend their evening out!

RETHINKING THE ARTIST'S SKETCHBOOK Camp

A sketchbook is much more than just a place to draw. Learn how famous artists have used their sketchbooks in unusual and surprising ways. From drawing and collage to watercolor and photo transfers, students will first bind their sketchbooks and then fill them with their original masterpieces inspired by our field trips around town and down the rec path.

MOBILE DIGITAL ART STUDIO Camp

MOBILE DIGITAL ART STUDIO Camp

Students will learn how mobile devices - iPads and cell phones - can be used as digital art studios! We will take our mobile studios out and about in the Stowe landscape to explore the colors, shapes, animals, flora, and fauna of Summer. Then we will use what we find to make abstract self-portraits. Summit School Trad Camp

Summit School Trad Camp

The Summit School of Traditional Music and Culture presents Trad Camp 2019 July 15-19! This week-long music immersion camp is perfect for kids 8-16 years old who either have a newfound interest in music, or a deep interest in furthering musicianship. Classes range from Beginner to Advanced on a variety of instruments including fiddle, guitar, ukulele, drums, songwriting, voice, and more. Budding musicians enjoy developing technique and skill on instruments they know, but are also encouraged to try something new. Our instructors are first class, recognized for both the quality of their teaching, and their performance skills.

The Trad Camp day begins at 9am with a group song or short performance, then students disperse into their different chosen classes. Mid-day lunch break includes ample time outside on the beautiful Orchard Valley Waldorf School campus in East Montpelier. Afternoon class choices include an ensemble option, where students can experience playing in a group and arranging music together. For campers who want to spend some time practicing or trying their hand at an art activity, there will always be time reserved at the end of the day. Pick-up is at 3pm, with an option for Stay and Play to accommodate longer work days. The Summit School has presented this camp for many years, and after taking one year off, has decided to offer it once again. The camp’s director, Katie Trautz, is thrilled to give children and teens an opportunity to explore music and deepen their interest in the arts.
