Virtual Spring Open Studio Weekend

Virtual Spring Open Studio Weekend

For 27 years, bright yellow signs have competed with a multitude of greens
along Vermont's roads to direct visitors to the studios of visual artists,
galleries and art centers across Vermont during the Spring Open Studio
Weekend. But this year, our 28th, thanks to Covid-19, we have
cancelled the face-to-face Open Studio Weekend tour and replaced it
with a Virtual Spring Open Studio Weekend Tour.

We hope that our first ever online tour will continue the statewide
celebration of the visual arts and creative process, and offer a look behind
the scenes into the life of the artist. We hope that visitors will purchase high
quality, handmade artwork from artist websites and online shops as well.

Start the tour on May 23 at 10:00 a.m. at vermontcrafts.com!

Return to the Garden: paintings by Kate Longmaid

Return to the Garden: paintings by Kate Longmaid

Furchgott Sourdiffe Gallery is pleased to exhibit the paintings of Shelburne resident, Kate Longmaid. Longmaid’s gouache garden paintings have a velvety, matte finish that well represents the tactual softness experienced when immersed in greenery. In this exhibit, her garden series is shown together with her floral still-life paintings in oil. Together they reveal both the process and experience of being among the garden along with the clarity and beauty of the harvest.

“In these recent months, we’ve been reminded of the fragility and tenuousness of the human condition. Our true nature and vulnerabilities have been exposed. Nature offers us a haven, a sanctuary, as the source of all life. We need to get back to our roots in the soil, reconnect with the earth with renewed appreciation for what sustains, nurtures, and heals us.” -Kate Longmaid

Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday 10-5 and Saturdays 10-4.

For safety, we receive only one party at a time into the gallery and ask that all visitors wear a mask.

If you have special needs, please call us beforehand.
