John Dunlap & Laura Markowitz • BCA Summer Concert Series

Enjoy lunchtime tunes all summer long with FREE City Hall Park Summer Concerts. Bring your lunch, meet up with friends or coworkers, and enjoy free music.​

John Dunlop has been performing in the Northeast for over twenty-five years as Principal cellist with the Vermont Symphony, Burlington Chamber Orchestra, Opera Company of Middlebury, Opera North, Vermont Mozart Festival, Vermont Virtuosi and the Green Mountain Opera Festival. He has performed as soloist with both the VSO and BCO, as well as many chamber music performances with notable area musicians. John is also the cellist with the fledgling new music ensemble TURN, which features many of the most interesting young composers of our time.

He studied under Richard Kapuscinski at Oberlin Conservatory and Bonnie Hampton at the San Francisco Conservatory and has played in master classes for Yo Yo Ma, Jerry Grossman, Steve Doane and others. John has also composed and recorded several award-winning film soundtracks for short films, including a documentary on childhood hunger in Vermont, where he called on his skills as a guitarist and bouzouki player in addition to the cello. He has played with Bernadette Peters, Lyle Lovett, Trey Anastasio, and
Phish. In addition to his teaching at Dartmouth, John teaches privately in Richmond, Vermont.

40th Annual Middlebury Summer Festival on-the-Green

The 40th Annual Middlebury Summer Festival on-the-Green–a free, family-friendly music series supported by community donations–will be held during the week of July 8 through 14, 2018, under the big white tent on the Village Green, Middlebury, VT. “Brown Bag” family-friendly programs are presented from Noon until 1 p.m. weekdays with evening musical performances from 7 until 8:30 p.m. on Sunday and 7 until 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The Festival is a 2018 Vermont Chamber of Commerce “Top 10 Summer Event” and proud participant in Vermont Arts 2018. Events are held rain or shine. Free admission; donations welcomed. BCA Summer Concert Series

BCA Summer Concert Series

Burlington City Arts' annual summer concert series presented by Burton & VSECU kicks off today in City Hall Park. All are welcome to enjoy the free performances. The series will take place from June 6 until August 29.

Each show begins at noon (unless otherwise noted) and is a great opportunity to meet up with friends or coworkers. Grab lunch on Church Street Marketplace then grab a spot in the park for great tunes. Each concert will also be live-streamed on Facebook (BTVCITYARTS) for those that can't attend.

This year's series is also sponsored by L.L. Bean and Seven Days with additional support from Church Street Marketplace.
