The Capitol Steps began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. By digging into the headlines of the day, they created song parodies & skits that conveyed a special brand of satirical humor. For more than twenty-five years, the Capitol Steps have recorded dozens of albums and appeared on "Good Morning America," the "Today Show," "20/20," "Entertainment Tonight," "Nightline," CNN's "Inside Politics," and dozens of times on National Public Radio's "All Things Considered."

A Fleeting Animal
Description:

The long-awaited revival of David Budbill's and Erik Nielsen's opera, "A Fleeting Animal: An Opera from Judevine" will have its first performance at the Barre Opera House on Friday, September 11, 2015. The tragic story of Tommy Stames, a returning Vietnam veteran, and Grace, the single mother with whom he falls in love, set in the small town of Judevine, Vermont, is full of powerful music and characters. The musical influences run the gamut from blues to Quebecois folksong to contemporary classical and the opera is full of comedy as well as drama. This performance is an event not to be missed!
