Skate Deck Art Auction by the Middlebury Skatepark Project
November 1 at 8:00 am - November 10 at 7:00 pm

The Middlebury Skatepark Project is hosting an online art auction featuring original skateboard deck art from 22 artists, with proceeds going towards concrete skatepark design and construction. The auction kicked off on Friday, October 27th and bidding will end on November 10th at 7pm. To view the skate decks and to place a bid, visit the auction website at www.middleburyskatepark.com/auction.
The skate decks are currently on display in the windows at the National Bank of Middlebury at 30 Main Street in Middlebury until November 10th.
Local Middlebury artists Mike Mayone, Roger White, Matt Heywood, Michael Kin, Lisa Maggio, Oliver Berlic, Tamara Sullivan and Adam Glazer have contributed artwork for the auction, as well as several other artists with personal connections to Middlebury, such as former Middlebury College Artist-in-Residence and muralist Will Kasso Condry, and Middlebury College alum and photographer Zach Doleac. Two decks were donated by Los Angeles artist Victoria Petway, including one featuring a portrait of her husband and pro skater from Manchester, VT, Steve Mull. Three ACSD students painted skate decks for the auction as well: Rainie Kuebler Raymond, Silas Quinn and Jo Ives.
The other artists from around Vermont who contributed artwork are: Pamela Fogg (Bristol), Mary Kate McDevitt (Panton), Treeline Terrains (Monkton), Lauren Giannullo (Shelburne), Alexa Herrera Condry (Brandon), Ashley Wolff (Leicester), Caitlin O’Donnell (Cornwall) and Tyler Lang (Panton).
The auction also features an original hand-painted skate deck by skateboarding legend and artist Mark Gonzales, donated by Eli Alexander Bonerz, co-founder of streetwear label XLARGE in Hollywood, CA. The skate deck, featuring the Watts Towers in Los Angeles, was a part of Gonzales’ first gallery show at XLARGE in 1992 or 1993. The donation of the “Gonz” skate deck was facilitated by Middlebury artist Roger White.
As a bookend to the auction, Notte is hosting the 2nd annual Middlebury Skatepark Project fall fundraising event on November 10th, including an art show and in-person bidding. Doors will open at 5pm, the auction ends at 7pm and food and drink will be available until 9pm. Notte has once again generously offered to donate 25% of food and drink sales during the event to the Middlebury Skatepark Project.
