Scrag presents Sacred Songs of the Mary’s, a program of ecstatic and contemplative early and early-inspired music that connects back to the Divine Mother Mary and Mary Magdalene. Scrag co-Artistic Directors Mary Bonhag (soprano) and Evan Premo (bass and viola da gamba) are joined by celebrated classically trained musician, sound healing practitioner, and founding member Anonymous 4, Ruth Cunningham (voice, recorder, harp, and flute), on works by Hildegard of Bingen, Kaija Saariaho, Kathy Wonson Eddy, and others. The program also includes a World Premiere chant by Cunningham based on the text from the non-canonical gospel of Mary Magdalene.
