Play Every Town: Starksboro Piano Crawl

October 20 at 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

Play Every Town comes to Starksboro!

In May 2022 composer-pianist David Feurzeig embarked on Play Every Town: 252 free concerts in each of Vermont’s 252 towns to confront climate change through the power of community and music. With this project David will become the first musician to perform in every Vermont municipality. He is traveling in his solar-charged electric vehicle throughout the state, offering free concerts to bring attention to the interrelated issues of climate and community, and to call into question the normality of long-distance touring and travel, while bringing the joy of music to his audiences.

The Starksboro event will have a unique format. Following a concert for students at the Robinson Elementary School, there will be a Village Piano Crawl encompassing three historic buildings—the Meeting House, Library, and Baptist Church—with three vintage pianos, all within a hundred yards. At each venue, a short description of the building history will be followed by two pieces: one from the year the building was constructed, and one from the year of its piano’s manufacture—winding up at the First Baptist Church where a potluck supper will be served. Then, at 7:30, there will be an hourlong concert a mile down the road at Camp Common Ground.

Donations will be accepted to benefit the Four Winds Nature Institute Program at Robinson Elementary School
