Play Every Town: Coventry

July 30 at 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Free
Musician playing a piano

In 2022, David Feurzeig embarked on his Play Every Town project: 252 free concerts in each of Vermont’s 252 towns to combat climate change through the power of community and music. With this project David will become the first musician to perform in every Vermont municipality. He will travel in his solar-charged electric vehicle throughout the state, offering free concerts to bring attention to the interrelated issues of climate and community, while also bringing the joy of music to his audiences.
Each program is locally tailored. In Coventry, composer Sara Doncaster, director of the music program at Lake Region Union High School, will join David for Brahms’ Hungarian Dances no. 3 and 5. David will also play music composed as the Meeting House was built (1829-31) including mazurkas from Chopin’s op. 6 and “America.” Like every performance on the tour, this one will include its own unique Scarlatti keyboard sonata: Sonata no. 38 for this thirty-eighth concert in the project. Other solo pieces will round out the program. This concert will be the first public event held in the renovated Meeting House since it was deconsecrated in 2019 and donated to the town.
