Palette Knife Painting En Plein Air with Melanie Levitt

June 29 at 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Event Series Event Series (See All)

Designed for beginner and intermediate painters, this class is for those wanting to explore using a palette knife, which allows for interesting mark making, and creating textures. Melanie addresses the importance of sketching/composition, how to create depth & light in a painting, color mixing, mark making, and choosing a stain color for your scene. Taught in an understandable step-by-step process, students will improve their ability to simplify the landscape, creating a dynamic painting!

About the Instructor: Melanie paints on location, braving elements to capture the mood of a scene. Her paint style is loose and impressionistic, and she uses both brushes and palette knife in her works. A 1990 graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, her work is in collections throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Melanie currently lives in the New Hampshire and owns the Jackson Art Studio & Gallery.
