Mapping the Rutland Region

The Castleton University Bank Gallery and Rutland Regional Planning Commission are proud to present “Mapping the Rutland Region”. This exhibit, curated by Ethan Pepin, shows the history of how transportation technologies have shaped Ruland’s development. It also addresses how local leaders, citizens, and planners have reacted to changing economic circumstances since the 1970s and sought to create a vision of a new Rutland through transportation infrastructure and land use planning. Highlights include a one of a kind series of hand drawn ‘Ecological Study’ maps produced in the early 1970s by Stephen Durkee, and custom made maps by RRPC’s Nic Stark which show the evolution of Rutland City’s urban form since 1916. The gallery show runs June 16 to August 12, Thurs, Fri, Sat 12 pm-6 pm. Join us for the Reception on July 20, 5:30-7:30 pm.
