LowDown Brass Band Plays Levitt AMP Season Finale

The Levitt AMP St. Johnsbury Music Series, bringing free weekly summer concerts to St. Jay since 2017, finishes the 2023 season on Sunday, August 27th, with LowDown Brass Band, at picturesque Dog Mountain, at 5pm. Hosted by Catamount Arts with partners including Friends of Dog Mountain, the Town of St. Johnsbury, and Discover St. Johnsbury, the Levitt AMP St. Johnsbury Music Series brought 11 free family-friendly shows to two St. Johnsbury locations in 8 weeks.

The LowDown Brass Band is a uniquely strong representation of Chicago music culture. The talented horn band leans heavily on dancehall and street beat rhythm, with the energy of conscious hip hop, jazz, reggae, and soul. Maintaining a constant touring worldwide touring schedule, LowDown’s recent performances include opening for Galactic, Bon Jovi, Montreal Jazz Festival, World Music Fest, Vancouver Jazz Fest, and Chicago Jazz Fest.

LowDown is currently touring their last two albums, “The Reel Sessions” & “LowDown Nights,” created during the pandemic and showcasing the band’s innovative, energized take on an irresistible, jubilant genre.

The final Levitt AMP St. Johnsbury show of the season takes place at 5pm, Sunday, August 27th, at Dog Mountain. Vendors such as Kingdom Table, Calex, Chef Nadav, and Maria’s Kusina will be available onsite for food and drink purchases, but no outdoor alcohol is permitted. Patrons are welcome to bring food.

Thanks to Kingdom Trails, switchback footpaths provide easier passage from the Dog Mountain parking area to the concert green. Parking is also available at Fairbanks Scales on Portland Street, where patrons can then board a free shuttle, courtesy of RCT, up to Dog Mountain. Visit www.catamounarts.org for more information.
