Join us for an evening of cinematic and musical enchantment.
Acclaimed cellist Lori Goldston returns to Burlington to perform a new live cello soundtrack to the experimental film classic Heaven and Earth Magic (1962) by Harry Smith.
Goldston is known for her adventurous musicianship and has described her approach to the cello as “rigorously detrained.” She has been a member of Black Cat Orchestra and Spectratone International and worked with artists such as Earth, Nirvana and David Byrne.
Harry Smith (1923-1991) was a Beat Generation filmmaker, artist and musicologist. The surreal and enchanting Heaven and Earth Magic, a film composed of animated collages, is one of his key works. The Whitney Museum will mark the centenary of his birth this year with Fragments of a Faith Forgotten, a major solo show of his work.
This event is free and open to the public.
Presented by Champlain College Creative Media, Filmmaking and Animation programs.
