Hand in Glove
November 11 at 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Join us for the reception of artist and photographer Nick Mango, Nov 11, 5:30-7:00pm.
Nick created this exhibit titled Hand in Glove, a series of portraits of Tinmouth community members juxtaposed with the gloves they wear for their work or avocation.
“Look at a glove and it speaks volumes. The rips where it caught on barbed wire. The creases from holding handlebars, hammers, or chainsaws time and time again. The holes where a baseball bat eventually rubbed through. The stains from a sweaty brow. The mud caked in over the years. Gloves are literally a product of their environment. And a product of the person who wears them. As they slowly take the shape of a particular hand, they become an extension of that person.”
By bringing these images together, Nick Mango has created a more nuanced picture of who these community members are and what they do. In doing so, a sense of place is created for the Tinmouth area – and for the state of Vermont, where community is so present.
Artist Quote: “They say one can see a person’s soul through their eyes. I believe you can understand someone by their hands. Or, specifically, by the gloves they wear.”
