Dance Education Laboratory Workshops at Jacob’s Pillow

July 6 at 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Event Series Event Series (See All)

Calling dancers and dance educators! Join us for two exciting opportunities with the Dance Education Laboratory at Jacob’s Pillow!

July 6, 9:30am-12:30pm | The Royal Ballet of the United Kingdom
DELve into an interactive and embodied workshop linked to The Royal Ballet of the United Kingdom and explore the nationally acclaimed Dance Education Laboratory (DEL) pedagogy model to investigate a choreographer’s work through multiple entry points

July 21, 10am-1pm | Social Tango Project
Use the DEL model’s multiple lenses to explore the dynamic dance form of Tango as participants learn to consider how to bring Tango into the dance classroom in a culturally sustaining way.
Facilitated by Ann Biddle and Felice Santorelli, DEL at Jacob’s Pillow connects dance educators, college dance students, classroom teachers, and professional dancers to the DEL model of dance education—situated alongside Jacob’s Pillow’s year-round resources as a center for dance research and development.

Drawing from the extensive resources of Jacob’s Pillow Dance Interactive, participants engage in meaningful dance learning activities that explore diverse dance artists, genres, and eras within a cultural, historic, and social context. Multi-modal teaching strategies include movement observation, embodied reflection, reconstruction practices, collaborative research, and collective dance-making

PLUS! Workshop registrants will receive a 20% discount to the same-day matinee performance of The Royal Ballet or Social Tango Project in the Ted Shawn Theatre, subject to ticket availability.
