Currently Speaking: The Lost Legacy of Women in Ornithology

January 25 at 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Celebrate the noticing of female birds and the bias in the birding world based upon current gender and scientific research.

Join Bird Diva Bridget Butler as she shares the lost legacy of women in ornithology and the celebration of noticing female birds. Bridget breaks down this bias by looking at current research on gender and birding, retelling the stories of the mothers of ornithology, and making the connection to the current science on female birds.

The Currently Speaking series is designed to align with themes in the main exhibitions which are hosted each year at The Current. These public programming events are opportunities for the local and more global community of visitors to learn, explore, discover, and engage with free admission offered for all. Presenters and performers are experienced in their field and invited for their capacity to inspire a curious audience.

In support of the 2024 winter exhibition, In the Garden, a robust lineup of Currently Speaking events is planned each month from January to April. The Current invites you to attend and be open to new opportunities for discovering inspiration.
