Vermont Studio Center Opens Applications for Vermont Week 2024
30 Fully Funded Fellowships Available to Vt. Artists, Writers for May 6-13 Residency

JOHNSON, Vermont (Dec. 12, 2023) — Vermont Studio Center (VSC) is pleased to announce that applications for Vermont Week (VTWK) 2024 (May 6 – 13) residencies for artists and writers are now open. VTWK is fully funded allowing VSC to provide full fellowships to 30 Vermont artists and writers.

VTWK applications will be accepted Dec. 12 through Jan. 7, 2024, via SlideRoom. Preference will be given to Vermont-based artists and writers who have not previously participated in Vermont Week. VSC is committed to diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from all artists and writers.

All residents are provided with private accommodations, private studio space, all meals, and access to local amenities. VSC’s residency programming includes a Visiting Artists & Writers Program, which invites renowned visual artists and writers to join our creative community to mentor residents, present readings and give talks, all of which are free and open to the public. Additionally, all residents are invited to present their work in a supportive community setting, and the experience culminates in an Open Studios celebration.

VTWK’s Visiting Artist will be Terry Ekasala, the recipient of the 2023 Vermont Art Prize and the Visiting Writer will be Kerrin McCadden, the recipient of the 2022 Herb Lockwood Prize for excellence in the arts in Vermont.

“We are thrilled to once again offer fully funded residencies as part of VTWK,” VSC executive director Hope Sullivan, said. “VSC is committed to the creative landscape of Vermont and to solidifying our role as a cornerstone of the experience of living and working in Vermont for artists and writers.”

Added Sullivan, “VTWK 2024 would not be possible without the generous support of our donors. Their unwavering commitment to VSC ensures we can provide a place for artists and writers to create, get inspired, and continue to enhance Vermont’s vibrant art community.”

VTWK is for artists and writers who have been a resident of Vermont for a minimum of one year prior to the application deadline. Residency means that Vermont is your primary residence, and is the address you use for legal forms, state income taxes, car registration, driver’s license or state issued ID, and/or voter registration. If you are accepted, proof of registry may be requested. VSC is committed to diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from artists and writers of all backgrounds.
