Theater Camp Staffer

The Chelsea Funnery is Hiring! Seeking a creative, motivated, fabulous Intern for a two-week summer theater program in Vermont, working with Junior High and High School students to produce a Shakespearean production. Locals are a plus! Stipend dependent on experience.

What Is This Program?
The Chelsea Funnery is a yearly theatrical summer enrichment program in Chelsea, VT. Our program runs for two weeks each July, during which time students read, rehearse, memorize and perform an entire work of Shakespeare. The program emphasizes team building, creativity, physicality, a deep comprehension of the text, and taking personal and creative risks. As teachers and directors of the program, our focus is to work with each student to develop their style on stage and theater skill set at their own pace and level, as well as to support everyone in the creation of a positive community dynamic. We work with students 13-18 years of age.

Looking for an excited individual with the following abilities:
Ability to work individually leading exercises and games with groups of students; also comfortable working one on one with students to support their theatrical endeavors. Strong social skills, for example, making a group of new students feel at ease and welcomed, observing and discerning social dynamics amongst campers (think: lunchtime in Junior High). Familiar with teaching theatre and a desire to share and learn new skills, taking direction, and assisting the program with housekeeping tasks such as photocopies, chair moving, dish doing, and band-aid applying. This position involves training for potential future opportunities of leadership within the program. This position is also FUN and full of creativity and opportunities for your fabulous input!
