Seeking Intern/Studio Assistant
Ideal candidate is an emergent artist/craftsperson seeking studio space and facilities to use as a springboard in their career. Candidates must have a general working knowledge of clay forming techniques and a body of work that supports this.
Duties - 15-20 hours a week helping with kiln loading, pugging, glaze mixing, cleaning, sales shifts. This is also meant to be a stepping stone and we would like to see your presence and creative process in the studio outside of work duties. Must be able to lift 50+ lbs. and commit to a minimum 6 month term
Compensation - 24 hour studio access, free and reduced materials (free recycled clay, 1/2 price new), access to a complete and extensive glaze pantry, use of electric and a gas car downdraft kiln, opportunities to hone teaching skills and additional compensation for it, gallery space with 100% comission, $800 monthly stipend
About the Studio - The Mud Studio is teaching studio in Central Vermont between Montpelier and Waterbury. We offer multiple throwing and handbuilding classes weekly as well memberships for experienced potters. Work is generally communally fired in a gas or electric kiln to cone 6. We mix around 30 custom glazes and several slips. We stock a variety of Laguna clay bodies
