Welcome to ArtMail for November 7, 2008!
We’ve been hearing a lot about
“change” and in recent days there has
been plenty of it. On the national front we have
a new President-elect. In this week’s
ArtMail, read what Americans for the Arts President
and CEO Robert L. Lynch has to say about America's future in
the arts and arts education under the new
administration.
Closer to home, Vermont has a new Stompin’
With the Stars
champion! Last Saturday Gerianne Smart
assumed the title with her Sarah Palin impersonation
and “maverick” Foxtrot. Check
out the video for all of the evening’s
performances.
One of America's most distinctive voices, Hayden
Carruth, died on September 29. Poets, friends
and family will gather for a
celebration of
his life and work on Sunday, November 16 at
Vermont College in Montpelier. The public is
invited.
Looking for more change? Browse through
the extensive list of jobs, calls to artists and funding
opportunities below.
Quotable: "The artist's world
is limitless. It can be found anywhere, far from where
he lives or a few feet away. It is always on his
doorstep." (Paul Strand, American photographer,
b. 1890)

sky was falling. It’s a cute story for kids about
the importance of proper scientific observation, right?
