Many thanks to the artists and arts organizations who contributed to this fundraising effort and to the people who bid!
Although lower than in previous years, we are pleased to announce that the 2010 auction raised $2500 for the Foodbank. For every dollar raised through the "doing our pART" auction, the Vermont Foodbank can acquire and distribute 3 pounds of food.
We are proud that Vermont's art community and its supporters are making it possible for the Foodbank to purchase fresh, nutritious food which will feed hungry Vermonters!

While we all know that "art feeds the soul," people need to feed their bodies first. In response to continued economic challenges, the Arts Council is supporting the work of the state's larges hunger relief organization, the Vermont Foodbank.
Despite some indications that the economy is improving, many Vermonters still feel anxious about their ability to make ends meet. Too many families are forced to choose between keeping their houses warm or putting a meal on the table.

The Vermont Foodbank works with 280 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, senior centers and after-school programs to provide food to communities in all 14 counties. Each dollar donated to the Vermont Foodbank provides two nutritious meals for someone at risk of hunger. Last year they distributed 6.5 million pounds of food to Vermonters requesting charitable food assistance.
