Gelli® Plate Monoprinting Class

Gelli® Plate Monoprinting Class
Description:

Green Mountain Academy welcomes Jane MacKugler to lead a one-day workshop on Gelli® Plate Monoprinting. The class will take place on Saturday, February 10 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Equinox Village. The Gelli® Plate looks and feels like gelatin, but is durable, reusable and stores at room temperature. It's easy to clean and always ready for printing, which makes monoprinting on a Gelli® plate simple and fun. The gratification is immediate, and the prints are too cool! We will use different sizes of Gelli® plates with acrylic paints and a variety of stencils, stamps, vegetation, household items, and whatever else we can find to create fun designs on paper and boxes. Bring along an old shirt or apron, any old gift boxes, anything that might make an interesting pattern, and your imagination. Preregistration is required and costs $50. For more information or to register, please call 802-867-0111 or visit our website at greenmtnacademy.org.

Time: 2/10/18 1:00pm - 4:00pm

NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE: Young Marx

NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE: Young Marx
Description:

National Theatre Live, the best of British theatre broadcast to cinemas around the world, presents the screening of Young Marx. It’s 1850, and Europe’s most feared terrorist is hiding in Dean Street, Soho. Broke and restless, the thirty-two-year-old revolutionary is a frothing combination of intellectual brilliance, invective, satiric wit, and child-like emotional illiteracy. Creditors, spies, rival revolutionary factions and prospective seducers of his beautiful wife all circle like vultures. His writing blocked, his marriage dying, his friend Engels in despair at his wasted genius, his only hope is a job on the railway. But there’s still no one in the capital who can show you a better night on the town than Karl Heinrich Marx. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for seniors and $8 for students. JAGFest

JAGFest Vermont Arts 2018
Description:

JAG Productions is pleased to announce JAGFest 2.0, a weekend performing arts festival of new works all celebrating the talents of African-American playwrights and performing artists.

Presented February 9 – 11 at Briggs Opera House in White River Junction, VT. The weekend-long festival of play readings celebrates and explores diverse, new voices in American theater. JAGFest will include four staged readings over the course of three days, each featuring a post-show conversation with the playwrights, actors, directors and Dartmouth scholars.

Founder & Producing Artistic Director Jarvis Green says “I am beyond excited to amplify Black voices in the American theater by having JAGFest serve as an incubator for new works that are written, directed, and performed by Black theatre artists. Introducing residents and visitors of the Upper Valley to the newest voices in American theatre with a festival that brings attention to the Black experience in America, in my opinion, is very necessary. Our company sees itself as playing a key role in bringing diverse actors and stories to the stage and to the Upper Valley, one of the most racially homogeneous regions of the United States, via powerful art that are artfully staged.”

This intimate play by Hollywood writer Bob Stevens (The Wonder Years, Murphy Brown, Malcolm In The Middle) brings to life a little known night when John and Paul were becoming the most famous young men on earth. Stranded in a hotel room in Key West, they do what many young men do when they’re bored–get drunk. They have some laughs, but as their talk turns serious, they bond over the revelation of traumatic childhood events they have in common and find inspiration for the music that changed our lives.
