Ready. Fire! Aim. | Curated by DJ Hellerman

Ready. Fire! Aim. | Curated by DJ Hellerman
Description:

Ready. Fire! Aim. is a joint exhibition that will take place at the Hall Art Foundation in Reading, Vermont (6 May – 26 November 2017) and at the BCA Center in Burlington, Vermont (21 April – 9 July 2017). Inspired by Andy and Christine Hall’s art collecting philosophy, this group show explores the psychology of impulsive action and strategic thinking. Using the creative process as a point of departure, Ready. Fire! Aim. brings together artworks addressing issues of violence and decay, gestural abstraction and linear precision, as well as the sensible and the absurd. BCA Center’s presentation will include work by six emerging to nationally recognized Vermont-based artists, while the Hall Art Foundation’s presentation will feature a selection of paintings, sculptures, and photographs by internationally recognized contemporary artists. The Hall Art Foundation is open weekends and Wednesdays by appointment. Appointments are available at 11 AM, 1 PM and 3 PM.

Hope and Hazard: A Comedy of Eros | Curated by Eric Fischl

Hope and Hazard: A Comedy of Eros | Curated by Eric Fischl
Description:

The Hall Art Foundation is pleased to announce a group exhibition curated by American artist Eric Fischl to be held in its galleries in Reading, Vermont from 6 May – 26 November 2017. Approximately sixty-five artists are represented in "Hope and Hazard: A Comedy of Eros", which includes over eighty paintings, photographs, works on paper and sculptures selected by Fischl from the Hall and Hall Art Foundation collections. In this fresh and provocative show, Fischl illustrates the absurd extremes associated with romantic and sexual love. Desire, passion, vulnerability, disappointment, pleasure and torment are expressed as a Greek or Shakespearian comedy – epic and tragic, hopeful and hazardous. (Pictured: Nicole Eisenman's "Little Shaver" 2005). The Hall Art Foundation is open weekends and Wednesdays by appointment. Appointments are available at 11 AM, 1 PM and 3 PM.

"Living With The Earth" by Joan Curtis

"Living With The Earth" by Joan Curtis Vermont Arts 2017
Description:

The Castleton University Art Galleries are excited to share "Living With The Earth," three collections of paintings by Joan Curtis, at Rutland City Hall. The Sunken Treasures group was engendered by abstracted still-life studies from Joan’s sculptures, which in turn suggest under-the-sea imagery. The panel group At One with Nature’s Wiles refers to humans living with dramatic changes in the world of nature. The Peaceable Kingdom series expresses the hope that we can continue to live with the wild animals of the Earth. All three collections were created between 2008 and 2015.

Time: 10/2/17 8:30am - 3/30/18 5:00pm
Location: Rutland City Hall, 1 Strongs Avenue, Rutland
