Description:

9 AM - 12:30 PM and / or 12:30 PM – 3 PM

Join us for a tour of our exhibitions, Hope and Hazard: A Comedy of Eros and Ready. Fire! Aim., in conjunction with a figure drawing class with instructor, Ian Campbell Swordy, in the presence of a live model.
 
Ian Campbell Swordy received his BFA from Hunter College (New York, NY), and his MFA from Yale University (New Haven, CT). He is currently a lecturer in the department of Studio Art at Dartmouth College.
 
Participants are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch or contact us to order a boxed lunch in advance.
 
Admission: Free
Adults only
Participants bring their own materials: newsprint or drawing paper; charcoal; drawing board. No wet materials please

Adventures in Photography

Adventures in Photography Vermont Arts 2017
Description:

Grab your camera and head out on some new adventures! Campers will experiment in the landscape, as well as in the Helen Day Art Center photo studio. The group will learn how to compose interesting images, combine photography with mixed media processes and try different camera techniques. Campers will also have fun with introductions to photographers and their work each day.

Step right up and learn the techniques and secrets of cardboard construction in this one-of-a-kind carnival camp! Through a variety of skill building and open-ended activities, we will work together to create a Cardboard Carnival experience to remember. Every camper leaves with a handmade PinBall Machine- the PinBox 3000 to continue the creative cardboard fun at home! Instructor: Bonnie Kolber

Calling all fairies to come and join us for a week-long magical adventure! This camp is a beautiful, unique, and nourishing experience learning about and celebrating fairies. We will be building fairy houses, exploring the fairy forest, sharing special fairy secrets and stories, building forts in the woods, and working and playing together in the true, kind fairy way. This delightful experience will be cherished by fairy lovers for years to come. Instructor: Lesley Grant

Earth, Wind and Fire Camp

Earth, Wind and Fire Camp Vermont Arts 2017
Description:

All full day camps are 10am-4pm. See camp descriptions for ages.
Unless otherwise noted, pick up and drop off at VAE at 48 Main Street in North Bennington.
Art Campers also enjoy a mid-day swim break at neighboring Lake Paran.
Campers are to bring a bag lunch, water shoes, towel and sunscreen if needed.

EARTH, WIND AND FIRE, July17th-21st, Ages 8+, $225
Instructed by Ann Webster-Lang
This camp explores the elements of nature including water and an array of art materials. Campers will be using the outdoors as their studio, creating sand and rock sculptures, making molds of the earth with plaster and building kites & flags. Fire is on the menu with safety first as they make their own fire pit and create wooden sculptures to go up in flames. A day of “creek walking” takes campers down the Paran Creek stopping to arrange rocks, changing currents, making waterfalls and quiet, mini ponds.

WEST RUTLAND, VT- Maryland artist Bill Wolff will be instructor for “Wood Sculpture” at the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center July 17-21. The workshop will explore the use of wood and trees with art with a foundation in shop practice and the science and craft of woodworking.

BIG PRINT! Steamroller Printing and Art Happening
Description:

Be a part of an Art Happening: not for the timid! This class, with Catamount Arts exhibiting artist Julia Talcott, will take you through the concept, creation, and printing of a black and white large print. For five mornings, we will work with paintbrushes, woodcut tools, power tools and more to create an image on an oversize piece of wood or linoleum. The class will culminate with a day-long steamroller printing event, during which we will print our efforts.

Class fee: $180 for Catamount Arts members; $230 for non-members (includes a year-long membership in Catamount Arts).

Julia Talcott is a printmaker, illustrator, and teacher. Educated at Williams College and Cranbrook Academy of Art, she currently maintains a studio and teaches relief printmaking techniques at arts centers in the Boston area. Award-winning illustrator, creator of the 1996 Christmas stamp for the US Postal Service, she is a member of the Boston Printmakers, as well as the Bromfield Gallery. Her work is in private, museum and corporate collections, including the MFA Boston. She is a regular teacher and coordinator of Big Print, a steamroller printing event at the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown, MA. She recently received an Honorable Mention in the Arts Connect Juried Exhibition at Catamount Arts.
