Jay Craven will screen and discuss two films from the MNFF:

Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story, directed by Alexandra Dean, tells the story of Hedy Lamarr, the glamour icon who had a secret identity as a technological trailblazer who perfected a radio system to throw Nazi torpedoes off course during WWII.

An Autobiography, directed by Mari Mantela, is a quiet comedy with a warm heart that follows Anja, a woman who knows everything about cars but nothing of herself.

Adults $10, Children $5

Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival Winter Screening Series Vermont Arts 2018
Description:

The 2018 MNFF Winter Screening Series at Town Hall Theater offers films from January through May 2018 with a specially curated feature each month. In keeping with the essence of the Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival, all the films come from first and second time directors.

The January selection will be the luminous documentary “California Typewriter,” directed by Doug Nichol, screening Sunday, January 7, at 2pm. Following thereafter – “I Am Evidence," a documentary directed by Trish Adlesic, on February 18 at 2pm, “Novitiate,” a narrative drama directed by Margaret Betts, on March 11 at 2pm, “Lady Bird,” a narrative drama directed by Greta Gerwig, on April 7 at 7pm and “The Judge,” a documentary directed by Erika Cohn, on May 11 at 7pm.
