ArtMail: May 20, 2009
Welcome to ArtMail for May 20, 2009. Notice anything different? ArtMail has a new format!
During our recent statewide Listening Tour we heard a lot of good ideas for expanding the resources the Council provides to Vermont's arts community. In the months ahead, we'll be rolling out new tools and programs to address those requests.
One of the most common suggestions was to provide an easy way for people to exchange information. With this issue we're launching a 'classifieds' section - sort of a "craigslist" for the arts in Vermont. You can both search and list information on jobs, calls to artists and workshops. There's a section for materials available or wanted, and another for studio space. We'll be tweaking this as we go so please check it out and let us know what you think.

Executive Director's Blog
Lip Service isn't Enough: In the late 1950s, according to symphony lore, San Francisco thought it had a world-class symphony orchestra. However a few people, including the SFO Executive Director, knew differently. With the backing of a committed group of trustees he invited several of the country's best orchestras to perform in San Francisco. For the next couple of years San Franciscans were treated to performances by the Boston, Philadelphia, Cleveland, and Chicago Symphony orchestras. Read more
