Cultivate and advance the arts and creativity throughout Vermont.
We envision a Vermont where everyone in the state has access to the arts and creativity in their life, education, and community. Work accomplished through the Council's core capacities — to advocate, convene and connect, and promote — will create four conditions in the state:
- All of Vermont’s cultural stakeholders contribute significantly to the state’s economy and identity
- Vermont schools engage students in and through arts, cultural, and creative activities to prepare them for success in school, work, and life
- Organizations and artists serving people in Vermont build vibrant creative communities
- The Arts Council’s ongoing structural and financial sustainability is assured and strengthened
Since 1965, the Vermont Arts Council has been the state's primary provider of funding, advocacy, and information for the arts in Vermont. The Vermont Arts Council is unique. It is the only designated state arts agency in the U.S. that is also an independent nonprofit organization.
