Members are the heart of the Vermont Arts Council! Contributions from individual and corporate members support our grants and services to artists, arts organizations, schools and community groups, and make statewide art projects like Palettes of Vermont possible.
As the single largest financial resource for artists and cultural organizations in Vermont, the Council needs your support in order to provide programs and services that are critical to the vitality of the arts in our state. Whatever level of membership you can afford, every contribution makes a difference. Here’s why:
- Your membership is your voice. Each year we must provide evidence to policy makers that art and culture are worthy of state and federal support. Your membership adds your voice to our efforts and helps demonstrate that the arts matter in Vermont.
- With every dollar you contribute, you are supporting grants and services to Vermont’s arts community. Last year member donations helped fund 186 grants and more than $500,000 in services to individual artists, arts organizations, community groups and educational institutions. The images at left highlight just a few of the many grant project we funded.
- The more you give, the more we can give back. Member contributions directly affect our ability to leverage additional funding that supports grants and services to Vermont’s arts community.
As a member of the Council you will receive:
- Free application for Council grants programs.
- Invitations to special events like the Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts, Arts Lobby Day, Arts Achievement Day, plus conferences and workshops.
- Council publications including our bi-weekly e-newsletter ArtMail and periodic ArtsAlerts that keep you informed on critical advocacy issues.
- Advocacy training to help you educate legislators, community leaders and state officials about the contribution of the arts in your community and across the state.
If you want to support individual artists, help build creative communities, and provide arts opportunities for all Vermonters, please join the Arts Council today!

There are many ways to support the Vermont Arts Council with a planned gift, including trusts, will provisions, retirement plan designations, and insurance policies in which the Council is named as beneficiary. Even if you cannot give a large gift at present, you can arrange a deferred gift and still enjoy income from your assets. Council staff, drawing on resources made available by the Vermont Community Foundation, would be happy to work with you and your financial or estate-planning advisors to determine the gift best suited to your needs, desires, and goals.
To find out more about Planned Giving, contact the Director of Development at 802-828-5423 or by email.
