Beginning this year, Vermont Arts Council (VAC) is engaging in a new partnership with the Vermont Cultural Data Project (Vermont CDP). The first management tool of its kind, the Vermont CDP is a powerful, online management tool designed to strengthen arts and cultural organizations.
To provide the cultural community with consistent, reliable, comprehensive data on arts and culture in Vermont, this unique system collects and standardizes historical financial and programmatic data for arts and cultural organizations. Through the Vermont CDP participating organizations can track their own financial and programmatic performance over time and benchmark themselves against comparable organizations in specific disciplines, geographic regions and budget sizes. To learn more about the Vermont CDP, please visit vtculturaldata.org.
Beginning in the spring of 2012, all arts organization applying to the Vermont Arts Council's new Operating Grant program and those organizations who have received an Arts Partnership Grant will be required to submit information generated from the CDP to the Council’s online granting system. Therefore we urge all arts organizations to register for an upcoming FREE Orientation Session. Register here. We've also devised a timeline that can help you stay on track.
You do not need to be an applicant to the Vermont Arts Council to benefit from the Vermont CDP. Through a comprehensive, statewide effort to gather consistent and reliable information on the arts and cultural sector, the
Vermont CDP will:
- Enable participating organizations to track trends and benchmark progress through powerful reporting tools,
- Provide information with which to gauge the economic impact of arts and culture by area or statewide, and
- Equip the Vermont Arts Council and other funders with data to plan and evaluate grant-making activities more effectively.
There is no cost for arts and cultural organizations to participate in the Vermont CDP. The Vermont State Council on the Arts, The Vermont Community Foundation and The Kresge Foundation have provided the leadership support for the Vermont CDP as a service to the field and to advance the arts in Vermont and nationally.
